Mouth Guards / Night Guards

  • High-impact sports such as boxing, soccer, and basketball can cause serious oral injuries. When engaging in these activities to avoid mouth injuries, it is recommended to use a mouth guard. In addition, mouth guards also protect the soft tissues, tongue, lips and cheek linings. Guards are made of specially moulded flexible plastic and are available in multiple colours and designs.

  • Night guards are also custom moulded to fit well with your teeth. Grinding teeth during sleep can cause thousands of dollars in dental repair. Night guards are designed to protect against the wear and tear of grinding, saving you the hassle and money that comes with it. It also helps reduce the jaw pain caused by grinding, preventing it from worsening and leading to mandibular jaw dysfunction. Our dentists will take accurate impressions of your teeth with a scanner which makes the impression-taking process lot more accessible, faster and less messy. The digital impressions are then sent to the lab straightaway for processing.

During your next appointment, your night guard is delivered to you after checking the fit and making adjustments if needed.

  • Mouthguard Care:

    • After each use, scrub the mouthguard with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste.

    • Store in a protective case when not in use.

    • The mouth guard is made of plastic, so keep it away from hot water and direct sunlight. It may melt or deform.

    • Replace your mouthguard regularly for good hygiene and update it with your teeth's changes and natural movements.

A strong and durable mouthguard can last for years, but of course, the lifespan of a mouthguard will depend on how well it is cared for and whether it can withstand the blows of sporting activities. Mouthguards have an average lifespan of six months to a year. If your teeth are still moving or erupting, it's crucial to replace your mouthguard more regularly to ensure a proper fit.

Can I buy an aftermarket mouthguard?

Some sports stores sell pre-moulded mouthguards. This type of mouthguard is made to be moulded at home (known as a boil and bite). Cook at home first, in a shape that fits any chin. While the protector is still hot, place it over your teeth and align it with your chin. These are less precise than dentist -supplied mouthguards, so they can be uncomfortable and challenging to fit. The heating and cooling process makes them more brittle and more accessible to damage. To best protect your teeth, we recommend talking to your dentist about your options.
